Overcasted you’re more beautiful
but don’t you cry on me
don’t discover knives where they ain’t

we are well and we have each other
what more can we ask of ?

we own the clothes we are wearing
and the stove keeps our nest warm

in the yard the lemon-tree takes our breath away
and the kitten cleans itself with its belly satisfied

I’ll paint the walls sky-blue
and you’ll draw ships, mermaids and dolphins
clouds and sea-gulls for good fortune

on Sundays we’ll be having fun
we’ll be riding the tram in each other’s arms
and go down to the beach
we’ll be building sand-castles
and envy cruises on the yachts made fast at the marina

we’ll be kissing at the ancient market
and beg the guards to let us in Acropolis fare-free

and when I’ll be gathering enough tips
we’ll be watching love stories at the movies
we’ll be going to the tavern
and order fried chips and honey-wine

and then, half dizzy-half sober
we’ll be knocking on the door of divine

don’t you be sorry on me pumpkin
for only bliss deserves to shed a tear.
